The Speed Stop Challenge was the second event of the day, also offering three attempts to each competitor, using the same starting point as the Slalom. But from there things change dramatically. The course consists of 270 feet of all-out driving, followed by a 30-foot square box. The timer stops when your back bumper is in the box—as long as you don’t touch, knock over, or demolish the cones in front of you! The trick is knowing your truck well enough to know when you need to make the switch from speeding to stopping. This event always makes for some pretty good entertainment; trucks can and did end up at a 45- or even 90-degree angle in the stop box. A few others decided to drag their cones all the way back to the pits!
