Whenever we see an outrageous truck build like this 2015 Chevy 2500 HD, we always inquire about past builds to gain insight. Usually, the owner is attempting to one-up his past builds and go even crazier than before. That’s not the case with this custom build. This is Ryan Hansen’s first attempt at a truck build and he went all in at the beginning.

Hansen wanted to build an over-the-top, aggressive truck and knew that Five R Trucks in Golden, Colorado, would be the shop to help him achieve his goal. After meeting with Five R and discussing where they wanted to go with the Silverado. They asked KEG Media work its magic on a rendering for the build, and rendering in hand, a blank Chevy canvas was ready to transform.

To achieve the high-elevated stance Hansen wanted, Five R chose to go with a 15-inch Full Throttle lift equipped with FTS 2.5 reservoir shocks up front. To get the rear up in the air, they went with Full Throttle four-link coil over system and also equipped them with FTS 2.5 reservoir shocks. Stainless steel brake lines were added throughout and all the suspension components powdercoated with Prismatic Powder Illusion Green by Powder Coating Specialties in keeping with the green and black theme.

Suspension completed, tires and wheels were next on the agenda. Hansen chose 24x14 American Force Whiskey SF8 wheels. They were custom-painted black with illusion green accents to go with the flow, all wrapped up in 40x15.5x 24 Toyo Open Country MT tires and bolted up with VV Concepts lugs.

Hansen wasn’t after just a big truck with a factory power plant. He knew he would need more power to move this tank quickly. He twin-turboed this beast, tossing on a Borg Warner 77mm turbo adjacent to the factory turbo. A MBRP 5-inch turbo back exhaust was installed to let this power breathe and an Air Dog fuel pump to maintain pressure. Underneath the truck, they tossed on Mag-Hytec cover on the rear differential cover.

With suspension and power done, it was time for the next step. Hansen added custom-made grille by Kash is King along with custom headlights built by Plain & Simple. ADD added a nice touch with their Honey Badger bumpers, painted to match, on the front and the rear. The company definitely has the industry seal of approval; they won the 2014 SEMA design award for best new truck accessory. Amp Research power steps were help a driver get a foot in the door without having to run and jump. KL6 train horns from Real Train Horns, two Viair compressors, and two air tanks were all painted matching green.

Numerous Rigid Industries lights throughout the build illuminate the road. The interior parts were hydro dipped in a green skull motif by Lawson’s Auto Body and the headliner was refinished in black suede. Hansen wanted a subtle, yet strong, clean sound while cruising. He installed Colorado Car Audio’s JL Audio 13w3 subwoofer in a custom box, powered by a JL Audio 1200.1 amplifier that’s tucked under the rear seat.

Hansen’s build was complete with just over three months of build time, a little pain, and a lot of hard work. This big bad Chevy took Colorado by storm, turning heads everywhere it went. His truck was used as a SEMA display vehicle in ADD Offroad’s booth. A huge feat for a first build. Was it beginner’s luck? Well, Hansen has another build planned; you won’t have to wait long to find out.
