Shortly after purchasing it, I had a head gasket failure and installed the ARP head studs and replaced the oil cooler while the engine was open. With the main failures having been addressed, I started with performance upgrades: a Powermax turbocharger, injector nozzles, a lift pump, and a full transmission build, along with a lot of other little things. I tow a lot with this truck, and it’s become a reliable tow rig and a fun weekend-warrior truck with more than 530 hp.”

When I bought this truck, it had the original GM 6.5L V-8 diesel engine, but it was blown up. Now it runs great, it’s a lot of fun to drive, and it turns a lot of heads. It catches people off guard when they see a Chevy and then hear a Cummins under the hood.”

I’ve never had it at the track, but I’m hoping to see some low 12s or high 11s using my race tune in the quarter-mile. I’ve surprised and beat many a sports car driver who thought they’d smoke this heavy truck. A 670hp/1,153-lb-ft dyno run was made using my street tune because my race tune wasn’t running correctly that day.”

Owner Says: “I've owned all sorts of diesel trucks, but my family wanted something different. It’s always been my dream to build a Ford/Cummins truck, and then we stumbled across this Suburban and loved it. We wanted to have a travel and tow rig for family vacations that gets good fuel mileage. It's fun to drive and is safe and reliable for when my wife hauls the kids. We also have a mini-fridge with a 1,000-watt inverter for road trips. I’m planning on adding an external wastegate and putting it on a dyno next.”
