2011 Chevy Tahoe- Game Changer
Bodied Twin Turbo on 28s
Some truck builders can be satisfied with bodying a truck and fitting it with big wheels. Travis Bauman out of Fairview Heights, Illinois, is not one of those builders—not in the least. Travis has been in the scene for around 16 years now and has seen many trends and fads come and go. One of the things he misses about the past truck scene is the number of full builds done then. To Travis, a full build does not stop at a body drop with big wheels and maybe even a nice paint job. “The theme in the scene has pretty much been big wheels, a big body drop, and it's done, and that just ain't me,” Travis says.
To put it simply, it was time for Travis to create a full build to spice up the scene, right now. It was time to change the game. It’s one thing to be the first person to do something with a new truck as soon it comes out for sale. It is a completely different thing to be the first person in to accomplish multiple new things with a vehicle that has been available for purchase and in the automotive world for years already. For Travis, with the help of Jake McKiddie of Phat Phabz in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, that was exactly the challenge they wanted to pursue.
Luckily enough, a friend had recently put his ’bagged ’11 Tahoe up for sale, and Travis immediately snatched it up to put under his knife. “I wanted to make it my own by having Phat Phabz build a full chassis for the Tahoe, body dropping it on 28s. This Tahoe will be the first in its body style to be body dropped on 28-inch wheels. After scrapping literally almost every piece of the Tahoe except for the body, it was time to cover each base of the full build. This was the truck scene he had missed so dearly.
The guts of this laid out SUV will be a full custom interior by Sculpt garage. Featuring a paint-job by IKE RAY, Bauman will skip no detail and spare no expense. “The more I thought about it, I really wanted to go over the top with the build,” Travis says. What could he possibly add to make this even more groundbreaking? Try a LSX 376 B15 with twin Mirror image Nelson racing turbos, along and a pro-street drivetrain. Yes, a TWIN turbo body-dropped Tahoe on 28s. Catch him if you can trophy chasers. You can find the debut of this incredible machine, named M8, at SEMA 2016.
