2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty Platinum- Record Time

The Closer

Feb 9, 2017
Photographers: Dale Martin
Two weeks is a short time to do anything. When sleep, bathroom breaks, meals, and time wasted on Facebook get factored in, 336 hours can shoot by in a blink of an eye. During the amount of time the average American takes (or should take) for vacation, this 2017 Ford Super Duty F-350 Platinum was built by Royalty Core over in Eugene Oregon. It was built as a guinea pig R&D platform, so the design team at Royalty Core could test some of their new products. But here at Truckin, we think any excuse to build a truck as awesome as this is a good one.

Josh and the Royalty Core crew started the transformation with the suspension, and they paid no heed to height restrictions as they installed a 15-inch kit from Bulletproof Suspension, which also included front coilovers reservoirs shocks, dual steering stabilizers with reservoirs, dual rear shocks with reservoirs, custom Atlas 15-inch leaf springs, traction bars. To be sure it was noticed from a mile away, it was all powdercoated Prismatic Candy Translucent Striker Orange. (Try saying that five times fast!) Keeping this Platinum planted to the pavement are a set of 26x16 Fuel custom-forged wheels with VV Concepts spiked lugs mounted up with some massive 40x15.5 Fuel MT R26 tires. All the better to rip pavement and dirt with, and generally, look like a badass in photo shoots.

The 6.7L Power Stroke was treated to an S&B intake, as well as a 4-inch MBRP exhaust system custom-bent to route it around the leaf springs and through the fenders to shoot out under the rear bumper with polished 8-inch tips. With that healthy 6.7L already pumping out 440 horses with 925lb-ft, it was now more than ready to take on all types of big-truck challenges.

To make this truck really stand out, it has a set of Fusion bumpers with Royalty Core Diamond Mesh with square LED lightpods and a quartet of billet aluminum Monster Hooks. Royalty Core dug deep into its design department and produced an RC5 quadrant grille with a glossy black frame, satin-black Diamond Mesh held down with Triple Nickel RC studs, all capped off with four LED lightbars. An RC88 headache rack with 3.0 Diamond mesh, custom Billet T-6 floating lightbar mounts, Prerunner and Bedrail Bars, RC LED spotlights on the sides with integrated taillights, tie-down hooks, and speaker mounts. Color-matched Bushwacker fender flares with RC bolts keep the rocks away from its Ingot Silver paint scheme with custom graphics from Harris Design. A generous spraying of Line-X protects the bed, tailgate, headache rack, speaker boxes, fender flares, bumpers, and roof of the cab, bleeding up about 6 inches to protect the rocker panels. To announce its arrival, Cutting Edge Illusions laid down a Horn Blasters Four Horn Conductor Kit with a WWII-bomb-themed air tank airbrushed with a shark mouth.

While the truck is out blasting the trails and making good use of any dry lakebeds, the occupants are treated to a full orchestra taking the shape of a complete Line-X coated box holding six 6-inch subs mounted under the front seat and Kicker components set into the doors. A set of auxiliary switches control the outdoor waterproof speakers mounted to the headache rack, speaker, and strobe lights.

The folks at Royalty Core have outdone themselves here. The company managed to build a monstrous Super Duty with a boatload of awesome parts, including their own, without tipping the scales into a show queen. This Ford has all the power and suspension to rock and roll in the dirt, with the ability to get cleaned up and be a show stunner. Well done.
