A Build That Will Make You Pack a Lunch
They say that life lines things up for you for particular reasons. We don’t quite understand why at the time, but those reasons will make themselves known eventually. Brad Bosman of Tempe, Arizona, was rolling around in an import when he received quite an expensive speeding ticket that required a short stint in jail. At that moment, a teenage Brad decided to change courses and purchase a slower and safer Ford Ranger. His grandfather worked for Ford, so naturally it made sense to stick to a Ford.
Over the years, Brad was customizing the Ranger, but quickly found the smaller sized pickup wasn’t going to be roomy enough for his growing family. His wife Cynthia and two children Brooklyn and Caylin required more room to travel to shows than the single cab Ranger. He went back to the Ford dealership and purchased a preowned 2001 Ford Excursion. Quickly, his creativeness and drive to customize the new family addition led Brad to bring the SUV to Todd Burton at Lowboy Motorsports without even putting 500 miles on it.
At Lowboy, Todd brought the heavy frame to the ground and added a full AccuAir air ride setup with e-Level. The next step was all the bodywork to prepare the Ford for paint. Custom front and rear bumpers were added to give a more aggressive feel than stock. A ’08 to ’10 Super Duty front-end swap was completed. Because Brad works for UPS, the natural choice for paint was to switch to a brown and gold. Leon Redman added custom flames along the sides and he painted “Bigg Brown” on the front.
Finding someone to customize the interior for the Ford Excursion was a mission. Brad felt the need to really take it to the next level, so he enlisted Steve Yiu at Elevated Design to give the entire cabin that next-level treatment with a cork custom interior. Custom honeycomb-patterned seats were wrapped in high-quality Palma Cork vinyl and curry carpeting was laid down to blend. A handmade center console was added along with custom lighting throughout. A full stereo setup was added to the rear to enable the family to have enough space for luggage on their long trips to shows.
With Bigg Brown finally completed after years creating his vision, the family now has enough room to arrive in style at any show. Brad wishes to thank everyone who helped and supported him throughout the years, including most importantly Todd Burton at Lowboy, Steve Yiu at Elevated Design, and Nick’s Metal Work for the engine bay cover. The biggest thanks goes to his loving and understanding wife Cynthia for supporting and understanding that Bigg Brown was time consuming and a dedicated build. His custom Ford Excursion allows the family to ride in style to every show.
