Although it was always Brady Taylor’s dream to have a show truck entered in SEMA, that wasn’t this truck’s original purpose. In fact, the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, resident picked up his ’15 Ram 3500 in 2015 to simply utilize as a work truck for his company, Black Bison Welding. Little did he know what it would become in a year. After having an idea of what he wanted his work truck to look like to be able to stand apart from the rest, he pursued the next step of the design: a rendering. He looked to social media and came across Cris Payne, the Truck Guru. Months went by after an initial discussion about a simple rendering. Soon, Cris was on the lookout to add to his upcoming SEMA builds, so Brady jumped on the opportunity and contacted Cris via social media. What happened in the following month might be considered impossible by some. Brady accepted the challenge with fervor, beginning the rocky road to a smooth result.

After a lengthy conversation, Brady’s truck was on the fast track for an expedited build for the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. As if getting parts and putting a build together in three weeks wasn’t stressful enough, these parts had to be shipped across the border from the U.S. to Canada. Brady built the Laramie Limited with immense support from his friends Patrick Tardif and Spencer Loewen, as well as many other friends and family—all while running his own company. As you can imagine, there were many sleepless nights. Luckily, there were no errors with the parts, and they all fit like a glove. In just several weeks, the completely stock Ram 3500 was transformed into a showpiece. The hauler to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas was literally waiting outside the shop when the last part was fitted. After a long, 24-hour-plus haul, the Black Bison successfully made its debut for Grid Off-Road, with the vivid splash graphics and copper colors adding a unique touch to the top-notch build.

Brady stated he hadn’t had a chance to drive the “newly modified” Ram until the SEMA Show, a reward well worth the investment. Now it gets driven every day through rain, snow, and dry conditions. Although he wouldn’t change a thing, Brady recommends to anyone planning a build to not rush, be patient, and to map out every detail from start to finish. Brady can’t wait to drive the truck some more and possibly do another SEMA build in the future. You can catch the Black Bison taking top awards at shows around Canada and possibly making more long hauls across the border. This is one build that isn’t afraid to be driven.
