Always Opening New Doors

When one door closes, you open another door. For Josh Herzing of Cypress, Texas, that’s what he has been doing since his teenage years. He grew up racing motorcross, but after a serious back injury, he moved to ATVs to stay in the sport. He and his little brother Travis would compete in racing every chance they got. The linked up with Russell Coker who was a Can Am racer and also had a business out of his garage called Pit Proven Performance—or 3P, as it’s now known. Josh and Travis began building UTVs under that name.

Josh and Travis turned their small business into a fulltime company a couple years later due to the high-quality product they were producing and the high demand. Their big break came in 2014 when just a few weeks before the SEMA show in Vegas, Wet Sounds Marine Audio contacted them to build a vehicle for their booth. They designed and built a massive side by side with King Shocks and American Force Wheels. The following year, Nick Chin from American Force wheels asked them to be featured in their booth with a side by side.

They tapped into a market that nobody in the industry had touched before, however, they were having a difficult time transporting these custom-built Utility Terrain Vehicles. Josh decided to get a new tow rig and went straight for a ’15 Dodge Ram 3500 based on their towing dependence and reputation. The running joke was how amazing and custom the UTVs were, but the truck was bone stock.

Josh decided to once again open a new door and try something new and different. He teamed up with John Vo at Pixelwerks and Scott Skepple for a unique wrap of the truck. Many ideas were thrown around, but the only one that Josh felt had the impact he wanted was a presidential wrap, which displayed presidents as zombies. “With the controversial election right around the corner,” Josh says. “It was a way to stand out and make an impact.” Nick showcased one of American Force’s newest-style wheels to make the wrap stand out even more. A full Kelderman Air Ride suspension was added to adjust towing levels for the trailer they would be hauling across the country.
Josh has continually moved towards new things and tested new markets. He’s gone from a young teenager into bikes to an adult with a custom Dodge and a professional business. There is no stopping his drive to try new things. He wishes to thank everyone who was a helping hand along the way and can’t wait until his next door can be opened.
