2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD- Monkey Business
Some people are born with the initiative to create unusual and original things. In some cases, it’s taught. But Austin O’Krisnky of Katy, Texas, always had it. As a child, he would constantly alter his toy trucks to make them more fun to play with. As he got older, he started tinkering with life-size trucks, and most of his friends would enlist his help to add custom touches to their trucks. That path led him to take auto-tech classes in school to learn even more about how trucks worked.
Once he got to college, Austin felt out of place with the normal people. After his graduation, he tried getting regular jobs, but they failed to hold his attention. He explained his passion to his father and pitched a deal to him to help back a business he believed would guarantee Austin’s success. Extreme Offroad & Performance was started with his father’s blessing and help. From this point on, Austin could be as creative as he always wanted.
His creativity continued on his own trucks, first starting with a truck that had airbrushed fire, then moving to another truck with airbrushed clowns. He soon began looking for a new truck and new theme. He found a ’16 Chevy Silverado HD and came up with an idea of crazy monkeys with an automotive theme. “I felt that the crazy monkeys portrayed the guys at the shop,” Austin says. “It showed the madness we go through every day.” After adding the custom paint, Austin’s next step was to bring the Chevy higher by way of a custom 12-inch lift.
As the truck started coming together, Bodyguard Bumpers contacted him and asked if he would be interested being in one of their SEMA spots. So Austin knew he was heading in the right direction. He really had to jumpstart the process, though, if he was going to be able to complete the truck in time for the popular November show. He painted front and rear bumpers from Bodyguard and added them to the Silverado, along with lightbars and a custom grille. The interior was given a complete renovation, starting with a full Roadwire kit to replace the already immaculate leather. A full Kicker audio set up was added for long cruises in Monkey Business.
Austin wishes to thank everyone who had a hand in building his dream truck, including his beautiful wife Merita and his father. His trusting sponsors kept his heart in the game by believing in him and instilling him with the confidence to build Monkey Business. They include Kelli and Grant at Bodyguard Bumpers, John at Metra Electronics, Nick at Cognito, Fernando at Atlas Springs, Luis at All Wired Grilles and David at Kicker. Monkey Business doesn’t mess around when it comes to high-flying quality.
