KT Joy grew up in the great state of Montana, a state where just about anyone and everyone owns a four-wheel drive—including KT’s family. “For as long as I can remember, my father always had a truck he was working on,” KT says. “Needless to say, I was a daddy’s girl from the start. I joined him in the shop every night and was immediately hooked.” It was a family affair for KT, growing up helping her brother and father with their builds.

When KT was able to start driving, she knew she wasn’t going to be satisfied owning anything but a big truck. “When I was 16, I worked at a pizza parlor, saving every dime I made to put a lift and a new set of wheels on my ’01 Dodge Ram,” recalls KT. Eventually, the ’01 was traded in for a Hemi ’06 Dodge Ram. Problems ensued with this truck, and after several powertrain issues, KT was done with gasoline.
That brings us to her new project: a 5.9L Cummins ’07 Dodge Ram Mega Cab. KT tells us her spending habits didn’t change much from her first build to this one, but as a daily driver, it still needed to be practical. “I take this truck everywhere! Work, the Las Vegas Strip on Friday nights, and back to our ranch in Montana,” KT describes.

The first thing she did with the Ram was put a big ole stack on it. She quickly ran into the stereotypical question, “Is that your boyfriend’s truck?” Right away, KT knew she had to add a little pink to the truck to guarantee folks knew it was female-owned. “I was hesitant at first to powdercoat the stack pink, but my brother, Mike, who came up with the idea, told me to go for it!” KT had the front grille and center caps painted pink, but most noticeably, the stack! She tells us she eventually wants to powdercoat the entire undercarriage pink as well.
The rest of the mods are more subtle than the pink accents, and she is perfectly fine with that. She added an Edge programmer and a FASS lift pump for a little extra in the performance area. Of course, KT needed some better tunes for those long drives, so she installed a complete Pioneer audio system. Since a factory-height suspension is just a tad on the bland side and doesn’t allow for meaty tires, a 6-inch Pro Comp lift kit made room for 20-inch Fuel Maverick wheels wrapped in big 37-inch Toyo tires that are covered by Bushwacker fender flares. Alter Ego custom-designed KT’s color-matched front bumper, which houses the LED lightbars from Industrial Grade Products. Along with the LED lightbars, Industrial Grade Products outfitted the Dodge with black smoke LED headlights and taillights.

KT now lives in Las Vegas and works for her father’s lighting company, which she will ultimately own in the future. Her truck is daily driven around Vegas, and that pink stack is not easily missed around town. “Building this truck has given me the greatest (and most expensive) fun I could ever have,” she tells us. “I love to share my story with fellow enthusiasts!”
KT has never-ending plans for Nichole, including 40-inch Toyo tires, Amp Research side steps, and a Grizzly locker upgrade with 4.56 Yukon gears. Wait, who’s Nichole? We asked KT if her truck had a nickname, and she said, “I felt like Nichole was that name of that chick in high school that was really pretty and popular, but you didn’t want to get on her bad side, because she might be a little crazy.” We feel the vibe!
