Owner says: “For years, I dreamed of owning the truck I have now. This is my first truck, and I have had big plans for it since day one. I have always loved a strong and reliable Cummins-powered Dodge, but I also loved the OBS Fords, so I was determined to have the best of both worlds. Once I was ready to convert my F-150 into something better, the fun began. Finding a rust-free OBS Ford frame is not easy, but I was lucky enough to stumble across one. Next was finding a good engine. Then came all the prep work, fitting the engine in the frame, ordering all the odds and ends, and finally swapping the cab from my original truck. In one day, we had the cab sitting on the new frame. Next was wiring everything to get the beast running, which took about five days to complete. A few days later, she was on the road. Words do not begin to describe how happy my truck makes me. It may have taken awhile to complete, but it was done the correct way, and I couldn’t be more pleased. I plan on upgrading the turbocharger with a compound setup, installing bigger injectors, and completely repainting the truck. Don’t let someone tell you that you can’t do something you love.”

New Blue ZR2

Year/Make/Model: ’18 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2
Owner: Kevin Alberts
Hometown: Middleville, Michigan
Engine: 2.8L Duramax I-4
Transmission: 6L50 six-speed automatic
Odometer: 230 miles and counting
Fuel Economy: 19 mpg
Modifications: None
Owner says: “I ordered my new truck in January 2018 and took delivery in March. Apparently, wanting a rubber floor is an odd request. So far, I’ve got more miles hauling a trailer than unloaded, so I’m sure the fuel mileage will only increase in the future. I call myself a hopeful skeptic regarding this truck’s hauling capacity, but it has surprised me already. The exhaust brake and trailer-brake control work great, and I’m looking forward to installing power-adders when the warranty expires.”
