Week to Wicked: Day Five: Roll-N-Lock, Lund, Covercraft, Mamba, and Hercules

Week to Wicked

We did it! Man, it was a long week, but we finally rolled our 2017 Chevy Silverado out of the shop and into the world after a complete custom makeover. We stayed extremely late last night wrapping up the complete JL audio system, but it was worth it because when we rolled in bright and early this morning, we had just a handful of key items left to knock out and call this thing done.
We began with Roll-N-Lock, where Scott Handley gave us a hand installing the killer E-Series tonneau cover. This bed cover does everything but bring home dinner, with its remote-powered retractable setup made of hard-powdercoated aluminum that looks as good as it secures your valuables. It also has a built-in LED light, an emergency release if your battery happens to die or your friends lock you in your bed, and there’s even a sensor to keep the cover from closing on your leg.
Soon after that, we made super quick work of the Lund side steps. Powdercoated in textured black, they look beefy and installed in about 10 minutes with the supplied hardware. That was a win-win for us. Next we threw the headlights back in, along with the RBP Midnight series grille complete with LEDs. We even had Scott from AAC leave us leads to plug right into our Trigger Six-Shooter so the install was truly plug and play.

Next we moved on to seat coves from Covercraft, not because we don’t like the premium leather that our Z-71 came with, but because we wanted to protect it. We went with the Carharrt series covers in gray- and wouldn’t you know that they are made with the same duck-weave material and triple stitched seams that their jeans and jackets are famous for!

As a finishing touch to the truck, we picked up a set of color-matched door handles from a local dealership and replaced the chrome ones in a matter of minutes. We also did a little debadging to cut down on the chrome a little further.

The final highlight that capped off the build was the mounting of the 20-inch Mamba M-19 wheel in Bronze into the Hercules Terra Trac M/T tires in 37x13.50R20. Both of these items fit the bill perfectly in the looks and performance department and we can’t wait to get them- and the rest of the truck- Dirty!

We’ve finally completed the week-long build- but there’s still a whole lot more happening with this truck. We will head to Magnuson for dyno testing, then head to the hills for the final beauty shots. And don’t forget that this will all part of a new episode of Week to Wicked, coming your way soon! Also be sure to check out our live videos and up to the minute updates from the entire week on our social media channels: facebook.com/truckinmag, Instagram.com/truckinmagazine.
