Week to Wicked: Truckin Takeover Day Four
Day Four: Gibson Performance & JL Audio
Another full day has come and gone, and the Week to Wicked- Truckin Takeover crew is starting to feel the pain. Day four had a lot of ups and downs, but in the end we are still mostly on schedule to do some burnouts tomorrow night!
We started our day with a good friend to Truckin for many years: Shawn Gibson. He brought out a full Gibson Performance stainless exhaust system for our 2017 Chevy Silverado that included state of the art ceramic coated headers and a split dual cat-back system with black powdercoated tips to match the look of the truck. And you better believe we fired up that supercharged 6.2L with open headers and woke up all the suits upstairs when the building shook!
Next we completely shifted gears and jumped into the cab of the truck where Bryatt Fischer and Rob Haynes of JL Audio ran us through the finer points of updating the factory Bose system that was in the Silverado. In addition to the C1 speaker upgrades and the FIX OEM Integration DSP (that’s fancy talk for the module that allows you to add amps and subs to the factory system), we also added an RD900/5 amp that will power both the door speakers as well as the two 10TW3 shallow-mount subwoofers that are contained in the star of the show, the Stealth Box. These guys tore into the Z-71 interior and at the time we write this, we’re about to wrap things up by installing the Stealth Box and listening to the fruits of our labor.
Finally, we finished up all of the KC HiLites on the rack and in the front bumper- 16 in total and wired them up to the Trigger Six-Shooter under the hood and set up the remote controlled switches in a custom panel that Scott Cover made up just for this truck. A big thanks to Scott is in order for going above and beyond to get all of our lighting handled.
We’ve got one more day to go- but there’s a long way to go so it may not be as easy breezy of a Friday as we were hoping for, so be sure and check back here for all the action. Also be sure to check out our live videos and up to the minute updates on our social media channels: facebook.com/truckinmag, Instagram.com/truckinmagazine.
