Watch Top Gear’s Snowbine Harvester, and more, on the MotorTrend App
For some areas, that special time of year is looming—Winter! And it isn't all snow forts and sleigh rides—some of us out there know the struggle of plowing. Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May set out on a mission with a slightly unconventional piece of snow-moving equipment—a combine harvester with its blades removed, and in their place, a snowplow.
Since the trio hails from a country where the local airport cancels thousands of flights on the account of a mere centimeter of snow, they journeyed to Norway to make use of the Snowbine Harvester. One of the tasks included clearing a runway on a frozen lake for an incoming light aircraft. May also cleared snow and spread grit on the roads of a snowed-in town.
We're leaving out the key details, however. How many times did May sink the Snowbine in the snow? Did the flamethrower (what flamethrower?) prove useful? How nimbly did the trio maneuver the enormous machine through parked cars and between buildings?
