10 Fun Airstream Classic Amenities
Just what does $150,000 buy you, anyway?
We absolutely love technology. Especially when it is found in places where it seemingly doesn't belong. That's why when we recently took a road trip with a 2020 Airstream Classic travel trailer, we were blown away by the crazy features that were included. Sure, with a price tag north of $150,000 we came into it with a few expectations. But nothing could have prepared us for what we found inside. With that in mind, let's take a quick look at 10 of our favorite fun and jaw-dropping amenities found inside the Classic.
Touch Panel Controls
Almost every function of the Airstream Classic can be operated from touch panel. You can dim the lights, turn on fans, adjust the air conditioning, set the water heater, turn on the SiriusXM satellite radio, and even extend the main awning. It's also possible to see trailer tire pressure, holding tank levels, and the status of both LP gas bottles. It's crazy the number of things that can be controlled from the touch panels.
We've gotten used to having internet on the go thanks to companies like General Motors and OnStar. But did you know that your Airstream trailer can be configured as a mobile hotspot, as well? That's right, the Airstream classic even comes with one year of free connectivity. Beyond that, nearly every function of the trailer can be operated you're your phone via the Airstream app, and certain auto manufacturers can even tap the data to be displayed in the vehicle while towing.
Admittedly, we didn't dig super deep into the spec chart when we picked up the trailer. So it came as a fun surprise when we unearthed the secret compartment in the bottom of the closet. Sure, it won't hold much. But it's a hidden lockbox, nonetheless.
Again, we probably should have read the directions a touch closer. We found buttons that seemed like they should operate something on the front couch. But it wasn't until after we turned on the onboard 1,000-watt power inverter that we found the power-extending footrests. The seats also have a USB port for charging while reclined.
Get Baked and Fried
It's not too out of the ordinary to see a combination microwave and convection oven, even in high-end travel trailers. What blew our mind was that the Airstream Classic came fitted with a combo microwave, convection oven, and air fryer. Yes, an air fryer.
Who Wants a Hot Towel?
That's right, the Airstream Classic features a heated towel rack in the bathroom. Let that sink in for a minute. Connected to the hot water system, the bar warms up so that you have a nice warm towel on cool nights.
Ding Dong Ditch
Yeah, that's a doorbell. On a trailer. No joke. We just wish there was a way to mute the dinger, since the other kids in the trailerhood loved ringing it at all hours.
Light the Night
Probably our favorite features yeah, you read that right was the lighted grab handle. Which, of course, was also dimmable.
So Much Shade
Afraid of too much sun getting in with all the windows? Fret not! The Airstream Classic features shades over nearly every window. The door side is fitted with one large power awning. The rear bedroom window gets its own, along with the bedroom side window. There's a third over the "driver" side windows, as well, for a total of four awnings.
Solar power is nothing new in the travel trailer space. However, the Airstream Classic comes fitted with a 270-watt solar system standard. That part is pretty impressive. Aside from running the air conditioning and microwave, you can do just about everything else with that amount of solar, and for a long time.
