2020 Pickup Truck of the Year – Special Thanks

Feb 1, 2020

Pickup Truck of the Year doesn't happen in a vacuum—it requires the involvement of dozens of people and agencies spread all across the country, and we'd be remiss if we didn't at least give them a shout-out. First and foremost, we must say thank you to the men and women who make up the marketing and communications teams at each of the OEMs. Without their help and support this test wouldn't happen. In addition, we would like to thank the West Coast vehicle prep companies, Page One Automotive and Motus One, which handle the difficult logistics of getting the plethora of pickups to us.

Special thanks are due to the folks at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, for again allowing us use of their Dragway facility. There aren't very many tracks that would consent to quarter-mile testing with a loaded trailer, so for this we are appreciative. For our spectacular photo shoot and off-road testing locations, thanks go to the California Film Commission, California State Parks Oceano Dunes District, and California State Parks Great Basin District. California has the greatest collection of State Vehicular Recreation Areas in the nation, and getting to use Pismo State Beach and Hungry Valley SVRA is a wonderful treat.

For this year's tow testing, we turned to the trailer experts at Big Tex Trailers, who graciously lent us a trio of brand-new trailers to use for the week. While it was corporate that gave us the OK, we'd like to extend our gratitude to Big Tex Trailer World in Beaumont, California. The units came to us from their inventory and their fine crew prepped the trailers for our use. While we're on the subject, we'd also like to thank PPE Diesel in Montclair, California, for allowing us to keep the trailers in their locked storage and stage test out of their facility.

We'd like to extend a big thank you to Nissan, who kindly provided a 2019 Armada for use as a support vehicle during the week. Our photography staff is grateful for the comfortable ride and spacious interior. Lastly, we need to thank Pelican Products and OtterBox for providing the coolers that kept our crew's beverages cold during our long week on the road.
