Two camps formed in support of the most expensive SUVs in our entire Best in Class story--always a class that creates heated debate around the editorial table. The Duramax Hummer H1 Alpha and 500-horsepower Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, both costing well over $100,000, are clearly great at what they do, but, in the end, were too one-dimensional for our voters. Once we let the dust settle (and the blood dry), we selected the vehicle that still exudes toughness with plenty of grunt and trail ability to boot--at less than half the price of either of the other extreme performers.
