The Jeep Gladiator concept, shown in Detroit two years ago, made Jeep and truck enthusiasts buzz with excitement. However, the breakup of Daimler and Chrysler and the introduction of new owners Cerberus Capital Management reportedly have put the project on hold. But Jeep is marching to its own beat. Caught in the deserts of Nevada doing hot-weather testing, this unique cab configuration looks to be hiding what most likely is the frame and body of the Jeep pickup truck. Word is it'll be named JT. This particular model has rear leaf springs, a Dana 60 rear axle, and a 3.0-liter turbodiesel under the hood. The right-hand-drive model also could be a test unit for an export-only vehicle for Egypt or the Middle East. This unit uses much of the existing Wrangler Unlimited platform, with a few modifications to the floor and body panels.
