1967 Dodge WM300 Power Wagon
Tim Luttazi; Bridgewater, New Hampshire
Tim shares a special bond with his truck--they're both retirees. Tim says this relationship began with a large blizzard in 1978. The 251-cid six-cylinder engine and a four-speed auto-equipped pickup made a reputation pushing a four-inch V-plow through snow-covered Dover, Massachusetts. "She" remained in his service fleet until a well-earned retirement. Now, Tim and his girl go to shows together and look good!
1978 Charlie's Angels Chevy Show Van
Jack Condon; Sherman Oaks, California
This may be the most unique "Readers' Ride" this year: the original 1978 "Charlie's Angels" Chevy van. It's several shades of pink over white pearl. Wild 1970s-era mods include dual moonroofs, lighted vanity mirror, liquor cabinet, velvet tuck-and-roll interior, captain's chairs, porthole windows, twin hood scoops, tube bumpers, and, of course, a compartment for prop pistols and shotgun. Body mods are all handformed steel.
1989 Ford F-350
Thomas Brooks; Erie, Pennsylvania
Fellow enthusiast Thomas Brooks owns this blue F-350. The 7.3-liter turbodiesel received a Banks Sidewinder turbo with wastegate and the E40D got a Banks Transcommand. Exhaust exits the five-inch Bullhorn stacks. The truck also received Line-X on the bed, custom bumpers front and rear, custom diamondplate interior, and XM radio. He uses his vehicle to haul horses, equipment, and ATVs.
1962 Ford F-100
Stuart Robertson; Boise, Idaho
Stuart's classic 1962 Ford F-100 sports a 390FE engine, with aluminum intake and headers, turning a stock C6 transmission. Stuart has added a shortened 1976 F-150 chassis and running gear with lowered suspension components. He takes his sharp-looking pickup to shows for fun and, on occasion, uses it as a daily driver.
2004 Ford Ranger XLT S/C 4x4
Harry Richmond; Indianapolis, Indiana
Harry's daily driver is a 4.0-liter with automatic overdrive transmission. He's fine-tuned his Ranger with Goodyear Fortera tires, Bilstein HD shocks, K&N air filter, an Undercover tonneau cover, Westin 2.5-inch black bull bar, and a newer 2007 chrome OEM XLT grille.
2007 Ford Escape
Daniel (D.J.) Grantland Jr.; DeLand, Florida
After owning four pickups, D.J. bought his first SUV--and immediately began fixing it up. He added a Putnam Class III hitch and Ford receiver brake light, window vents, grille guard with driving lights, Westin runningboards, and a K&N air filter. He tows his 10-foot utility trailer on a regular basis, and his Escape hasn't missed a beat while towing. D.J. also enjoys using his Escape to go on family outings--it's recently taken him to Oklahoma and to the Orlando theme parks and Daytona.
2006 Hummer H1 Alpha
Chris Fesler; Phoenix, Arizona
What happens when you and your buddies are oozing creativity and you have a Hummer H1 Alpha with the Duramax for a blank canvas? If you're Chris Fesler of FeslerBuilt designs, you give it a lift, wrap some 40-inch rubber around 22-inch three-piece rims, and set up the wildest sound systems around. You can see more of Chris' creations at car shows around the country.
CUSTOM ROLLS ROYCE 4X4
Unnamed Owner; Dubai, UAE
Our friends from Amp Research get all sorts of special requests but this one came from the Middle East marked, "money no object." It seems they wanted to mount some Power Steps on their GM heavy-duty 4x4 with a Roller body. Naturally, it has a 454 big-block under the hood, and we're guessing it sees plenty of sand duty.
1972 Ford F-100
John McGlynn; Elmore, Ohio
John's F-100 is technically a street truck, but this 700-horsepower, Prostreeted drag machine has seen nothing but the track (Norwalk) for the last two years. The ported and balanced 351 Cleveland has NOS on hand for a quick boost. The F-100 has a four-link coilover rear and A-arm front suspension, Ford nine-inch rearend with 4.56 gears, and much more. It runs the quarter mile in the low-11-second range.
2004 Ford F-250 XLT Super Duty
Joseph San Clemente III; Virginia Beach, Virginia
Joseph's F-250 is a 6.0-liter turbodiesel, with automatic transmission and FX4 suspension. This is no ordinary Super Duty. Modifications to this truck include an AirAid intake, Banks Monster exhaust and charge-air kit, and unbelievable stereo system. It also has smoked LED taillights, strobe-light kit, and a step bar with amber LEDs. Joseph's truck pulls a 14x6-foot double-axle trailer six days a week.
