2009 Best In Class Crew Cab Pickup, 2WD

Winner: Ford F-150 SuperCrew
Runner-Up: Toyota Tundra CrewMax As you can see, this segment includes compact, midsize, and full-size trucks, which would seem to make it hard to pick one winner in this category. However, as is the case with our Sport/Utility and Truck of the Year events, we compare each candidate with the rest of its competitive set to see which does the best job. In this case, we have to give it to the Ford F-150 SuperCrew. Its best-in-class towing capacity, incredible versatility across the line, and top-notch interiors (with a flat floor in the SuperCrew's second row) mean this truck can be whatever a buyer wants it to be, a strategy that could prove successful in a time when buyers have to make their dollars stretch as far as possible. The Tundra CrewMax is a close second here, and as amazed as we were with the F-150's rear-seat legroom, the CrewMax actually offers more. Where it falls behind is in its capability and its cluttered dash.
