When big jobs need to be done and done right, folks turn to these trucks. Not only are these pickups expected to haul big loads and do hard work, it's taken for granted that they can do it on a daily basis. Capability is key here, and for that reason, the Ford F-250 is best in this category. Maximum towing capacity is a best-in-class 16,900 pounds (18,800 with the F-350), GVW is highest of the trucks in this group, and this capability comes in a truck with the lowest base price. If you want the diesel-powered work truck with the most torque (660 pound-feet), you can look at the runner-up Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra 2500 HD. Next year, though, things will get really interesting with the new Super Duty and Silverado/Sierra HD.
