A regular redneck rampage in unlicensed cars, FlatOut is demolition racing with extreme damage modeling and a more thrills than a moonshine run through Hazzard County. Players compete in five environments, with a total of 36 tracks, racing tail-out with a wild bunch of AI daredevil drivers. With 3000 items per track to smash, and hyper-detailed damage modeling, things are flying everywhere, including the driver. The cars bang, crunch, and disintegrate, with severe collisions sending the driver flying like a ballista-launched rag doll. Bumping is fun, but the car reacts like it's wrapped in tin foil, encouraging prudent driving. There are so many obstacles in the road, from barrels to 18-wheelers, that damage is ensured. FlatOut has a career mode, allowing the player to unlock up to 16 cars, tracks, and six special "rag doll" events, where the driver is jettisoned to accomplish various objectives, such as hitting a target. The career mode starts with a lump sum to buy a starter car, then earnings can be applied to ever-better cars and a surprisingly large roster of aftermarket enhancements across bronze, silver, and gold ladders. What Burnout is to street chaos, FlatOut is to backwoods mayhem...
