In the performance parts industry, an air intake is one of the most common upgrades. Replacing a factory airbox can be a hit or miss proposition with modern electronically controlled fuel-injection systems, but Injen is stepping up to the plate with their newest short ram.
Designed specifically for the 2009-current Ram 1500 with the 5.7-liter Hemi V-8, this intake is endowed with Mega Ram Technology. According to Injen, MR Technology uses a step down process within the intake tubing to help better regulate the air's flow rate and density. Customarily, intakes might lean out an engine's air/fuel mixture but MR Technology is supposed to compensate and work in harmony with the mass air flow sensor. The take home message is that Injen expects up to 9 more horsepower and 11 pound-feet of torque over the Hemi V-8's stock induction setup.
In addition to MR Technology, this intake receives a dry filter, meaning there's no oiling needed (though cleaning will eventually be required). It's just another perk of being a part of the modern age.
This intake can be ordered in either polished silver or wrinkle black.
