Remote start technology has been around for several years now, but Viper is taking a new approach to short-range automotive security systems by using Bluetooth for its new SmartStart BT system.
SmartStart BT uses the Bluetooth functionality of your smartphone to lock, unlock and open the trunk of your vehicle. The functionality can be added to most pre-installed Viper or Directed security systems with SuperCode or Clone-Safe Code-Hopping technology including Autostart and AstroStart. Part numbers for the add-on module are VSM50BT and DSM50BT. Apps are available for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry. Specific capabilities vary by vehicle.
