But if you want to add some additional seat time into the mix, try the Go-Kart track. Some of the best drivers in the world started in karting, and the same abilities practiced in the MAZDA3 on the skills and competitions courses can be perfected on the karting track. For an extra nominal charge on the Go-Kart track, you'll get plenty of wheel-to-wheel driving and a dose of good clean fun to boot.
In addition to the "chalk talk," three skills clinics and the competition course, participants will once again be treated to displays from Mazda, Falken Tire, and other lifestyle sponsors, making it a full day of fun and exploration for automotive enthusiasts and those who enjoy the active lifestyle.
Winners from each of the 15 cities will once again be flown to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for the dramatic and intense Mazda Rev It Up Finals. In 2004 the wildcard berths are to be chosen from among the top national leaders in each class -- "Just for Fun," "Novice," "Club" and "Pro," the top scoring woman competitor and highest scoring non-city winner. The last two can come from any of the classes. That opens the door for just about anyone to win the grand prize Mazda3.
There are, however, some other changes of which competitors should take note: Southern California competitors will have their choice of locations in either Irvine or San Diego to compete. Several of the sites within the cities have changed, so please check the schedule carefully. The tour, which begins nearly a month earlier and ends in late June, is currently slated for only Saturdays and Sundays in 2004. Please be aware that some dates and locations may change, but if you sign-up in advance, you will be kept informed.
Since group sign-ups proved to be a big hit in the inaugural year, Mazda Rev It Up is once again trying to accommodate friends who want to brag and boast together by registering groups in 20- minute increments. However, these are only available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
As before, drivers will be able to see how they fare against all others in their class during the weekend and throughout the tour. The event website, http://www.MazdaRevItUp.com, will show how drivers measure up against others across the country. Participants may register online at www.mazdarevitup.com.
