Porsche is recalling 270 vehicles including 2012 Cayenne Turbo SUVs for a faulty turbine wheel. The turbine wheel could fracture due to a casting defect, causing oil to be drawn into the exhaust system, and increasing the risk of a fire. The recall also affects Panamera Turbo sedan models.
The Problem: The turbine wheel on the exhaust side of the turbocharger may fracture due to a casting defect. A fracture could result in decreased vehicle performance, oil leakage into the exhaust system, resulting in excessive smoke and an increased risk of fire.
Porsche will notify affected owners and dealers will replace the turbine wheels free of charge. The recall begins in July 2012. Owners can contact Porsche at 800-767-7243 or NHTSA's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236.
Number of Vehicles Affected: 270 2012 Porsche Cayenne Turbo and 2011-2012 Porsche Panamera Turbo models.
