Nissan is recalling 11,076 2012 Juke models for an improperly-welded rear seat striker. The striker may partially separate in a crash, increasing the potential for injury for rear-seat occupants.

The Problem: The striker, the metal loop that the rear seatbacks attach to when upright, may have an incomplete weld penetration, weakening the striker, and potentially causing the rear seatback to become unsecured in the event of a crash.

The Fix: Nissan will notify affected owners, and dealers will replace the strikers free of charge. The recall campaign will begin at the end of July 2012. Owners can contact Nissan Customer Service at 800-647-7261 or NHTSA's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236.

Number of Vehicles Affected: 11,076 Juke models manufactured between February 3, 2012 through May 26, 2012.
