Spied: 2007 Toyota Tundra Regular CabStaying Regular By John Pearley Huffman Photography by Brenda Priddy & Company
Here's proof the next Toyota Tundra will be available as a regular-cab model in addition to extended versions, a prototype caught on digital media while testing in the California desert. This is the first look at the regular cab since Toyota has, so far, shown only extended-cab versions. There's no reason to believe the regular-cab Tundra will differ much mechanically from the extended cab. In fact, looking at the photos, the new Tundra seems to carry forward the Toyota tradition of giving regular-cab buyers more bed in compensation for excising cab length while maintaining wheelbase and bed length. Expect the full range of Tundra engines, 4.0-liter V6 and 4.7 and 5.7-liter V-8s, to find their way into the regular cab. Of course, 4x2 and 4x4 models will be offered. That Toyota is committed to a regular cab shows its ambition to gather up sales not just from casual truck users, but hard-core work-truck buyers as well. That should make every other manufacturer tremble.
