Auto News: Today's Pre-Owned Vehicles May Be the Better Bargain

Compared to 20 to 25 years ago, automakers say today's "certified pre-owned" vehicles can be as good as buying a new vehicle and are a fraction of the cost. To "certify" a used vehicle, a dealer must perform a comprehensive multi-point inspection that meets the original dealer's specifications on age and mileage requirements. Once the vehicle becomes certified the dealer is to draft an extended warranty. With better warranties and available options like roadside coverage, automakers say used cars feel more like new ones.
