We've shown you Porsche's sportier sport 'ute -- the Cayenne GTS -- before, but now we have U.S. pricing information to boot. Those looking to put a Cayenne GTS in their garage will have to give up $69,300 to their local Porsche dealer when the SUV hits show rooms next month.
In case you've forgotten, the Cayenne GTS is based on the regular Cayenne S and uses that vehicle's 405 horsepower 4.8-liter V-8. The automatic Tiptronic S transmission from that vehicle is also available, but for the first time, Porsche is also offering to pair a conventional six-speed manual with the V-8, which should be good for slightly better acceleration figures. The Cayenne's handling is also said to be improved in GTS trim, by virtue of 21-inch wheels with lower-profile tires and the addition of Porsche Active Suspension Mangement (PASM), a suspension control system that optimizes performance during sporty driving.
Of course, some body enhancements have also been made lest your neighbors think you've cheaped out on a standard Cayenne. The Cayenne GTS rides lower than its siblings, and features a new wheel arch design and a front end that mimics the Cayenne Turbo. Inside, grippy Alcantara is used to cover the front seats and both front and rear seats have undergone a redesign to give a sportier look and feel.
With the standard Cayenne S coming in at $57,900, there is definitely a premium to be paid for all these extras. But with Porsche touting the Cayenne GTS as offering "the best on-road characteristics of any Cayenne Porsche has ever produced," there will surely be a line of enthusiasts snapping these up. The Porsche Cayenne GTS will make its North American debut at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show next week.
