Record-setting Banks Diesel S-10 Invited to Run at SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals, Las Vegas April 12-13

AZUSA, Calif. -- The National Hot Rod Association has invited the Banks Power race team to run its record-setting Sidewinder S-10 Duramax V-8 pickup in front of the crowd attending the ninth annual SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas April 12 and 13. The weekend runs are set for approximately 3 p.m. Saturday, just prior to the second Pro qualifying session, and approximately 4 p.m. Sunday between the semifinal and final rounds.

These special runs at the NHRA event will be a great opportunity for fans of diesel power and for anyone curious about clean, high-performance diesel engines to see the record-setting Banks S-10 in action. In Arizona testing earlier this year, driver Wes Anderson legged the S-10 to a 7.89 best at 173.51 mph without a wisp of the vision-obscuring sooty black smoke associated with diesel high performance in the past. The Banks S-10 is the only diesel drag truck to run a seven-second quarter-mile elapsed time.

Using Bosch/Banks electronic tuning technology, Banks Twin Turbos mounted on Big Hoss intake manifolds, and a single-stage Banks nitrous-oxide system, the 6.6-liter modified GMC Duramax V-8 engine produces close to 1,200 horsepower and more than 1,200 pounds-feet of tire-twisting torque. Many of the special components that have been developed and proven on the S-10 will soon be available to the public through the company's new BankSpeed line of high-performance products, developed for use at sanctioned racing events only.
