2009 Ford Flex: 100,000 sales a year 'absolutely' possible

April 11, 2008

By Nate Martinez

Ford has high expectations for its new 2009 Ford Flex crossover vehicle, saying it plans to sell around 100,000 units annually.

Ford's marketing honcho Jim Farley stated in a recent Automotive News report that the goal is "absolutely" possible. Ford is looking to market the Flex as an upscale alternative to its established Expedition and Explorer SUVs.

Also on Ford's calendar this year is the release of the 2009 Lincoln MKS sedan and the next-generation 2009 F-150. Together with the Flex, Ford is hoping that the three vehicles will help it reverse its sagging U.S. sales.
