China's Great Wall to sell SUVs in Europe by 2010, exec says

Great Wall Motor President Want Fengying stated that the Chinese automaker plans to begin selling its new SUV in Europe by 2010.


As reported by Automotive News, the unnamed SUV is currently under heavy development to meet the latest European safety and emissions regulations in the alotted time.

Great Wall has had previous experience in the European marketplace when it exported a small number of its Hover SUV (pictured) to Romania and Italy in 2006 and 2007.

Wang also mentioned that the carmaker has been approached by a number of U.S. exporters interested in bringing their lineup of cars to American customers, and stated that while there is much growth potential in the U.S., the company will need more time to reseach the market.

Great Wall plans to launch three new small car models by the end of the year in China, complementing its current Jingling compact car.
