June 3, 2008

BMW has implemented a price increase over its entire model lineup that is said to appropriately coincide with contemporary high costs of raw materials and worldwide currency exchange pressures.

Effective today, a one percent price hike will affect base prices, packages/options and vehicle destination charges on BMW cars and SUVs. The newly released 1 Series, E92 M3 and X6 are excluded from the mid-year increase in price, as are factory ordered cars commissioned before May 9 that are scheduled for delivery after June 1.

"Despite a mixed economic outlook in the U.S. market, these measures are in line with pricing trends in the automotive industry," said Chairman of BMW of North America Tom Purves in a prepared statement.

The last time BMW implemented a "modest" price enhancement was in March of 2007 with a 0.5 percent increase.

Listed are base prices for models affected by the mid year increase:

328i $33, 525
528i $45,425
650i $77,425
750i $77,625
M5 $84,725
M6 $101,125
X3 $39,425
Z4M $53,225
Z4 $37,525
