Acura adds more power to the 2009 RDX

June 16, 2008
By Zach Gale

Customers in the entry-level premium SUV segment will soon have more than five entries, including Acura's RDX, from which to choose. To woo more of those customers to Acura dealerships, the RDX gets a couple minor updates for the 2009 model year.

Most crucial in this update is the addition of a four-way power front passenger seat. We imagine a manual front passenger seat has probably been a big detractor from the 240-horsepower, turbocharged Acura crossover. Another metropolitan area has been added to Acura's Real-time traffic system, and you can finally order your RDX in Basque Red Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Grigio Metallic, or Palladium Metallic.

Along with the minor changes comes a price increase: up $500 to $33,695 on the base model and up $300 to $36,995 on the Technology Package model. Prices do not include a $760 destination and handling fee. Acura says the price bump represents a 1.08 percent weighted average increase.

The relatively fresh RDX has yet to receive its mid-model refresh, but these changes should help the SUV make the best possible impression until Acura has the resources (perhaps when RL and NSX development are further along) to give the RDX a full refresh.
