Chrysler has issued a recall of 6,692 newly-released Dodge Journey crossovers powered by its 235 horsepower 3.5-liter V-6, citing a faulty wiring harness that could possibly start a fire when it comes into contact with the left transaxle.
Since its debut last February, Dodge has sold 17,569 Journeys through May. Authorized dealerships will inspect the engine wiring harness and replace it, along with a tie wrap, which will ensure the unit does not contact the transaxle.
Chrysler has yet to provide an notification schedule to owners, but is expected to be in contact with them in the coming weeks. Owners may direct any further questions to Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
