BMW X5 provides best total ownership experience, according to Quality Index

The BMW X5 SAV (sport activity vehicle) helped push BMW as the leader in the "Best Brand" and "Luxury Utility" categories in Strategic Vision's Total Quality IndexTM. The X5 is currently the leader in the Total Quality IndexTM. The announcement was made by Weatherford BMW of Berkeley, California, a top BMW dealer.

San Diego-based research firm Strategic Vision based its Total Quality ExperienceTM rankings on ratings from new vehicle owners in 19 product segments, covering all aspects of an ownership experience, including buying and owning to performance and driving. The Total Quality IndexTM is the premier measure for owner satisfaction, providing a unique and complete measure of total ownership experience, which is able to qualify all avenues of ownership, including emotional responses.

Tom Purves, president and CEO of BMW North America, states his satisfaction with the ratings: "BMW is honored to be named leader in the categories of Best Brand and Luxury Utility on Strategic Vision's Top Quality Index. As the index rankings directly reflect the views and opinions of our target audience, these honors serve as a tribute to the hard work of everyone at BMW and are affirmation that we are continuing to be successful in providing the ultimate ownership experience for our customers."

The 2008 BMW X5 features 3.0si and 4.8i trims. The 3.0si carries a 260-hp, 3.0L inline-six, and the 4.8i has a 350-hp, 4.8L V-8. Both trims feature a 6-speed automatic transmission, along with BMW's xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system.
