A recent study by Carfax determined that SUV demand is still going strong even in the light of 4-dollar gas and the raging popularity of hybrids and fuel-efficient cars. Carfax has reported that there has been a dramatic increase in consumer activity for SUVs and crossovers over the past year; there is even more interest shown by consumers if the searched cars have a clear history and is well-priced. Some searched SUVs have garnered more than 3000 percent in activity.
Larry Gamache, the communications director for Carfax, attributed the increase in activity because SUVs are "safe, practical cars and smart shoppers are searching for great deals." He went on to say "the time is right for dealers to showcase their SUV inventory and make them stand out from the competition. Run a Carfax Vehicle History Report and leverage the information included to sell your cars faster. In addition to fuel efficiency, Carfax 1-Owner cars, low mileage and regular maintenance are all attributes that will turn casual SUV shoppers into serious buyers."
