Following months of speculation, Audi announced its Q7 V12 TDI SUV is ready to go and will go on sale at the end of the year. The 6.0L V-12 TDI engine will be first of its kind to power a passenger vehicle, and the engine will produce 500-hp and 737 lb-ft of torque. Performance numbers for the SUV are impressive with a 0-62-mph time of 5.5 seconds and an electronically controlled top speed of 155 mph. A redeveloped common-rail injection system and pressurized fuel at up to 2000 bar help the Q7 achieve an average fuel rating of 20.8 mpg.

The Q7 has an aluminum chassis with double wishbone suspension up front with adaptive air suspension, along with electronically controlled shock absorbers with dynamic roll stabilization. The SUV comes standard with 21-in. wheels and 20-in.carbon-ceramic brake rotors. The front brakes utilize eight pistons per caliper, and the rears use four per caliper.

The Q7 V12 TDI is distinguished from other Q7 SUVs by the wider wheel housings, darkened tail lights, dual oval exhausts, steel underbody protector, custom body kit, and an optional panoramic sunroof. The interior features aluminum inserts and velour carpet, carbon, and aluminum trim with stainless-steel pedals. Verano leather covers the sport seats, center armrest, and door inserts. Front and rear seats can be heated, and a special lighting package provides ambient mood lighting.

New German market Q7 SUVs will cost approximately $185,467, and there are currently no plans to bring it to the United States.
