General Motors' latest addition to the crossover world will be a distinctively styled multipurpose (MPV) vehicle suitable for large families. The Chevy Orlando will feature adaptive seating for seven along with a distinct blend of SUV-like design and a great amount of interior space. The concept crossover has been seen as a combination of an SUV, family van, and a wagon in an attractive and versatile five-door package.
The Orlando is based on the also-new Cruze compact sedan, which was recently announced. The crossover features a great contrast between the hood and windshield lines, creating a distinctive silhouette. The fenders are flared, giving it an aggressive SUV-like look and stance. The Orlando is being built on a car-based architecture, making it a more nimble ride with better handling than a van, and also giving it better fuel economy and easy entry similar to a passenger vehicle.
The interior seating is designed in an adaptable, theater-style seating for easily seating seven passengers. The movable seating enables the cabin to turn into a spacious cargo area when needed. A combination of a wheelbase of 2760 mm and wide front and rear tracks attribute to the generous interior space.
Powering the Chevy Orlando will be its latest 2.0-L turbodiesel, which will put out 150-hp and 236 lb-ft of torque.
