Barbus Service UK Limited has turned a Volkswagen Crafter panel van into a barber shop on wheels that's big enough inside for two haircutting work stations.
Leather salon chairs and mirrors dominate the inside of the van. The specially prepared Crafter has a 134-hp 2.5L five-cylinder diesel and a semi-automatic transmission. The conversion apparently took four weeks and also included black rubber-stud tiles and a generator to power the heating and air-conditioning system.
The Banbury, England-based service has regular routes at which locals can get their hair cut, from the "Grade 1 (All Over) Clipper Cut" to a "Funky Cut & Style."
Barbus managing director Stella O'Neill says "the Volkswagen Crafter gave us everything we were looking for in terms of size, appearance, fuel economy, and price."
One of many questions the Barbus brings to mind: What other businesses could you see operating out of a large van like the Volkswagen Crafter?
