Southern California automotive technology company AC Propulsion (ACP) has recently announced its collaboration with Taiwan's Yulon Group in the development of an all-new electric vehicle. The yet unnamed EV will be built under Yulon's new Luxgen car brand and will initially be only mass produced for Asian markets in mind, although ACP will be looking to see if the car has potential in the U.S.
Despite details being fairly slim, according to a released statement, the new car "will embody luxury with intelligence." Prior to its new venture, ACP developed a sports car propulsion system called tzero technology that was capable of propelling a lightweight EV to 60 mph in a claimed 3.6 sec. The technology was quickly licensed and sold in 2004 to now famous EV maker Tesla Motors for their use in future models. Last year, AC Propulsion began delivery of its eBox EV (left) to customers in California. The Scion xB-based EV features a five-passenger capacity, 120 mile range and 95 mph top speed.
Yulon and AC Propulsion hope to build upon their experiences within each of their respective world arenas to produce the region's first mass-produced EV. Expect more details to emerge in the coming months
