Honda's 2009 Japanese market Odyssey minivan has been completely redesigned, with a sleeker body and new advanced driving-assistance technology, it looks well-prepared for the future.

The new JDM Odyssey is powered by a 2.4L DOHC i-VTEC engine. The 2.4L makes 171 hp on the standard model, and 203 hp for the topline Absolute mode. The engine uses fuel-saving technology such as an ECON mode that applies control of the CVT and air-conditioning to reduce engine load. A lower floor and lower center of gravity enable a lower-profile roofline. The slimmer package helps aerodynamics and, in the ECON mode, the Odyssey can achieve an incredible 31 mpg. Although the new JDM Odyssey is slimmer, the interior cabin is still as spacious as ever.

More driving-assistance technology comes standard with the new Odyssey. Along with the new Multi-view Camera System, a special mobility-assertive version of the minivan equipped with a lift-up front-passenger seat will be on sale starting November 13.

Compare the JDM Odyssey with the U.S. market Odyssey below.
