A prototype of the 2010 Acura crossover SUV was spotted during testing at night in California's Death Valley in late August, and now the interior of the test crossover has been caught as well. The latest spotting reveals a low roofline that starts to drop after the B-pillar, giving it a more coupelike appearance. The interior cabin design is similar to that of the current MDX SUV. Current indications are that the crossover will be competing with the BMW X6.
While Acura has yet to say anything specific about the new crossover, Dan Bonawitz, vice president for corporate planning and logistics, announced the new crossover will be launched in 2010. The crossover might use a V-8 engine to stay competitive with its rivals, such as the X6 and Infiniti FX35. A V-8 engine is currently in development and is expected to be put into production within the next 18 months. Another engine option would be the current 3.7L V-6. The crossover is likely to utilize Honda's Super-Handling AWD system.
