As expected, more manufacturers are opting to withdraw from the 2009 Detroit Auto Show due to cost cutting measures, with the latest being Mitsubishi Motors. The Japanese automaker joins the exited group of Rolls-Royce, Land Rover, Ferrari and Suzuki.

Like the four other brands, officials at Mitsubishi determined Detroit was the best show to pull out of given the region not being a large market for the automaker. Although it will have no presence at the show this year, Mitsubishi is not prevented from returning in the future.

Despite the shedding of major players, booth space pricing is still at a premium, especially in central Cobo Hall. Organizers plan on quickly filling empty spaces and according to Joe Serra, co-chair of the 2009 show, an expected 45-50 unveilings will still occur.

Not to fret though if you're looking for something new. Chinese automaker Brilliance is set to make its North American debut in the Motor City.
