After Nissan, Infiniti and Mitsubishi pulled out of the Detroit Auto Show, area dealers stepped up to fill the void. We reported early this month that dealers were in talks to use display areas reserved for the automakers, and today it appears their wishes have been granted.

Automotive News reports the dealers will fill show space with vehicles off their own lots. The Nissan/Infiniti booths will be especially bare; the automaker will not supply video displays or stages for the vehicles. Mitsubishi, on the other hand, will lend display stands to its dealers.

"We were disappointed about it, but it was a business decision they had to make," show senior co-chairman Joe Serra told AN. "The dealers wanted to be here... They know it's a great value."
