While the 21st century hasn't brought Isuzu passenger vehicles the success of the 20th century, the commercial division is doing just fine and has upgraded the 2009 N-Series for improved economy, driver productivity, and emissions. Operator comfort benefits from new front suspension, steering, spring rates, and cab/chassis bushings.

Braking power is now electronically distributed and an exhaust brake is standard; a limited-slip differential is now offered as an option. The data recording module that monitors engine, transmission, brakes, and driver is standard.

The N-Series is offered in five colors other than white, six wheelbases, and two cabs, with GVW from 12,000 to 19,500 pounds and GCW up to 25,500. Powertrains consist of a 50-state clean idle certified 5.2-liter four-cylinder of 205 horsepower at 2400 rpm, 441 pound-feet at 1850, B-10 design life of 310,000 miles, and an Aisin twin-overdrive six-speed automatic, or a 325-horsepower Vortec and GM four-speed automatic.
