A debadged, left-hand drive version of the Isuzu D-Max pickup truck was spotted in the snowy Midwest recently, reportedly seen coming and going from several engineering facilities. The Isuzu D-Max/Holden Colorado pickups share a common platform with GM's Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon twins, but have one option their U.S. siblings don't have -- a 160-hp 3.0L I-4 turbodiesel engine under the hood.
With its primary markets in Thailand and Australia, the D-Max/Holden Colorado spotted in the Midwest more than likely belongs to a diesel engineering company such as AVL or Bosch, rather than GM or Isuzu. Spy photos reveal that the hood of the D-Max does not sit flush with the front fenders, which may indicate possible engine modifications are underway for future models of the Asian market pickup. Of course, it's a remote possibility that diesel-powered mid-size truck could eventually be part of GM's U.S. market plans, but don't hold count on it.
On top of being powered by a diesel engine, the interior of the D-Max/Holden Colorado can be optioned with Bluetooth, navigation, and a rear backup camera.
