Nissan's loyal and struggling southeast Michigan dealers have been asked by Nissan North America to respect its November decision to have no presence at this year's North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Despite the group of dealers -- called the Metro Detroit Nissan Motor Co. Dealers -- offering to provide staff and vehicles for the show, corporate officials have rescinded all consideration for a possible joint display venture.
Like a growing handful of other major automaker, Nissan announced its decision to pull out of the nation's biggest auto show for cost saving reasons. Taking its place in the 25,000 sq ft display area located at Cobb Hall will be a lounge, gallery and boutique-style displays for smaller exhibitors. Among them are Bertoni, College for Creative Studies, and Kia Motor Corp.
