2009 Ford F150 Front Drivers Three Quarters View

Ford F-Series Pickup Trucks Tops in Canadian Sales for 43 Straight Years

The United States is not the only place where the Ford F-Series has been a regular best-seller year after year. By beating out other competition, our neighbors to the north in Canada have made the F-Series the best-selling pickup truck in Canada for a record 43 consecutive years.

The F-Series were not the only Ford vehicles that made their presence felt in the Canadian market. Sales of Ford crossover SUVs rose 14% compared with 2007 sales figures, and sales of the Ford Escape, Ford Edge, and Ford Ranger all increased compared with 2007. For 2008, truck sales tallied a total of 159,887 units, down 4.9% compared with the previous year.

2008 Highlights:

  • Ford F-Series is the best-selling pickup in Canada for a record 43 consecutive years
  • Sales of Ford CUVs rose 14% over 2007 sales
  • Ford Escape sales up 4%
  • Ford Edge sales up 14%
  • Ford Ranger sales up 4%

December Highlights:

  • Ford CUV sales up 29%
  • Ford Focus sales up 3%
  • Ford Escape sales up 23%, a new record for the month of December
  • Ford Edge sales up 8%, best December sales ever
  • Ford Ranger sales up 16%

The new 2009 Ford F-150 and Ford Flex have helped Ford increase their market share, which currently stands at 14.6%.
